I've very recently watched a news clip on TV about LTA's move to change of the busstop information poles to better and newer ones. Then there was this dude who said "In this kind of economic climate, the government shouldn't spend this kind of money".

I've been quite disturbed by this comment and I really cannot tahan and have to make some clarifications here. During a recession, the governments SPEND! This move could keep many many many jobs. Think about the dude who designs the boards, the dude who does the planning of what info goes on the board. How about the metal cutter, the wielders and printers? Then, there are the logistics people, the installers and even the cleaning company's cleaners. Dude, many many jobs are created or preserved here. In the current economy, if the government or the rich don't spend, then the jobs of those way down in the food chain will be lost. Think about it. Don't make such a stupid comment to piss me off. Anyway, you pay so much tax, isn't a nicer and non-rusting information board (with more relevant info) nice? They make Singapore that much prettier, which will raise the image of SG and then, more people will come to invest eh?

Dude... Seriously...
