Ok, you know the thing about anti-smoking campaigns, pictures of smoking related diseases on cigarette packs no videos of actors smoking in movies? Well, I'll say that maybe the policy makers are being very bias. Well, it's a fact that smoking related diseases like lung cancer, COPD and emphysema are not the top killers in the world. Seriously... In my most recent assignment, I've gone through a lot of such health statistics stuff and hey, cardiovascular diseases are the top killers in the world. Isn't is weird that social propaganda only covers smoking and not so much on unhealthy foodstuff? Top reasons for heart diseases are high fat diet, high cholesterol, obesity and sedentary lifestyles.

Hmmm... high fat, high cholestrol, high calorie foods... Sounds like char kway teow, laksa, prata, nasi lemak, KFC, Macdonalds, BK, LJS, Old Chang Kee, Hagen Daaz. Steamboat buffets... Shouldn't these foods get the "fear-factor" imagery warning signs also? Imagine picture of a 200kg guy sitting next to the red-hair clown carrying a health advisory sign. How about a "high-fat content" sign sticking on the Char Kway Teow stalls? Maybe "Over-eating warning" signs outside buffet (international buffets, steamboat) outlets? What about red canned drink carrying "High sugar"?

Oh well, maybe you'll think that I've picked up smoking, the answer is no, I still hate cigarette smoke and smokers. As much as I like fattening foods, I'm constantly reminding myself to shy off those food. Anyway, my point is, maybe we should impose those signs, then maybe I'll have more will to avoid those junk foods. And help the more ignorant population also.

Got these thoughts after watching "Thank you for smoking". Nice movie.
