Do you still remember why and who are the traditional money changers? Everyone who's been under the Singaporean education system would have studied that before. It's this group of Indians called the Chi*something something* one.

Do you also know, that I've only passed one ever History test? Haha, somehow I just remember the part about Singapore quite well.

Anyway, did you know that in Singapore, traditionally, the Hainanese opens coffee shops

Did you know that all Chinese with the surname Fu, Foo (whatever other weird dialect spelling) are all Hainanese?

The Hockchias (my mom's dialect) pulled rickshaws and trishaws.

The coolies (ku li) were mostly Hokkien

There are many other dialect specific jobs in Singapore. Soon still stand now, like Chinese Medical Halls, can't really remember off hand but they are either opened by Hainanese or Kek, . Will ask my mum and update this post sometime soon.
