HolidayS!! Wooooooo...
Finally, no more scary old patients with VRE and MRSA. (Lindy CAN spell the full words)!!! Hmmm... Learnt alot during this block. PRacticed old skills... I love trauma radiography. But didn't have much chance lah. Good block! Hope i don't get any rejected reports.
And right now, it's the last few hours of my 22th year on earth. It's going to be my Birthday tmr. Sigh, I'm already done with more than one quarter of my life! That's freaking scary! And i'm still a student, no contribution, done nothing for humanity... Ok, I'll try to improve my life as a 23 year old. Happy Birthday to me!

Just watched the Da Vinci code. It really brought the sotry book to life. The story was damn close to that of the book, but sadly, it didn't feel as exciting as the book. Oh well, I've read the book, so nevermind la... Good show anyway.
Second day at nuclear medicine today. It's a glimpse of the future of a nuclear med radiographer. I really wonder how many of these people actually have cancer eventually. Or the chances of childhood cancer in their children. Oh well, gamma rays, you don't see them, but they bloody hell are there, at least the gamma camera shows them.
EEeeekkks...

Ok, my week at a pedaetric hospital is over. I really had a good time, I love children, the ones with fractures, not the ones with Ca. At least I know the ones with fractures can recover.
Met the Evil Clan after work yesterday, I had to tap my EZlink card for the first time in a week, felt damn uncomfortable watching my EZLink value drop, I know it's a weird comment, but yah, i'm just being honest. Heng the shows for all the Da Vinci Code were sold out! or else, we'll have to pay a ridiculous $9.50 each for the show. Call me a cheapskate. but 2 tickets amount to $19 bucks, that's almost a new tee shirt that I can wear many many many hours instead of just a 2 hour show. Princess is really a much better option. $5 for weekdays, ah... Isn't that a soothing price.

KK Women's and Children's Hospital is just like heaven to me. I love kids! They are so freaking adorable! The babies have such huge heads!
Anyway, I went up to the OT today. It's a very refreshing experience. Now I understand why Mr Chin says that orthopaedic surgeons are like carpenters. Not much of a story to tell. How about my new diet plan?
I've adopted a 5 meals day diet plan. I eat lighter foods during meals, but I eat more frequently. This keeps insulin levels up and in a result burns more fat. I don't know how well it works though... And here's the next one, I try to take at least 3 servings of dairy products daily. Studies show that people who take more than 3 servings of dairy per day over a month showed more abdominal fat lost than the group who took less than 3 servings per day. Both grouped did the same abouts of exercise. Well, I hope that works. And hey, I'm on a rather tight regime now, very disiplined with my eating and exercise. And I walk to work! 3km of walking on top of the hussle and bussle at work.

Hospitals without a polar outlet shouldn't be called hospitals. Sigh... KKH doesn't have a freaking polar. I want to eat my Polar chicken pie for morning tea breaks. Oh sigh...
The walk to KKH is not as long as i've expected. 25mins door to hospital. Quite good, ha! Save More than $2 per day. And the walking time is the same as waiting and transfering 2 buses to reach KKH from my place.
KKH is like a children paradise. The children are sooo freaking cute! Really enjoy playing with them and taking x-rays for these little angels. The cryers are slightly more difficult, but still, they're just too damn cute. And they have so much flesh on their limbs, really look like marshmallow man. Ooooo... Cute!

In an attempt to save money and time. I shall try walking to KK hospital from tmr onwards. If it goes well, I'll be walking to attachments for 2 weeks! Yeah! Each walk is about 1.4km. Which is pretty damn good cardio. But i'm going to stroll and take my on sweet time cos I don't want to sweat. Why don't I want to take public transport? Cos if i'm going to KK, it's only 1.5km from my place, but I need to take 2 buses, which means I'll need a $52 dollars estamp. Which, I'll only use for one week, cos I'll definately walk to NNI. NNI's even nearer. Heeheee... I used to walk to Farrer Park swimming pool for my swimming lessons when I was a kid, I belief that now, with longer legs, I won't dread the walk so much. Heee...
Lose weight, lose weight!

Haven't been blogging much lately. Been rather busy doing my attachment competency reports. Really difficult to stay awake at nights to even touch my computer. NUH is kinda busy the past week, maybe it's due to the back to back long weekends. The general rooms are damn busy. But time really passes damn easily. But yeah, tiring... Report's pretty good, i'm glad!
I'm finally made my switch to Mozilla's Firefox. It's open sourced and there's definately been alot of improvements since it's launch last year or the year before. I was an Opera die-hard fan, but the latest Beta of Opera totally screwed up both the older version and the new version, couldn't be bothered to fix it. So i hopped on the Firefox wagon! It's really significantly slower than Opera, especially with the image loading. But it seems to be much more compatible with the websites that I usually use. Even if a site doesn't work well, there's definately a plugin to make the site work perfectly, the magic of open-source. The first Firefox, even Mozillas were cock programs, now, it's taking over the world! Wow! I'm lovin my fox...

I think we should promoted the use of lunch boxes. Permenant ones. Hospital staff love to eat take-away food. It's more convenient I guess. There's no need to go to the freaking hot NUH food enclave to squeeze with everyone. Instead, we could all just send some useless little students to help us take-away our lunches. Can save the walking time and yeah, rest in the air-conditioned pantry.
Well, here's a catch, hosptials use a hell lot disposable utensils and boxes. Styroform and plastics as we all know, are bio-undegradable. And they are actually petroleum derivatives. Quite a waste of petrol I would say. Sigh, people keep talking about saving the world and this kind of trend is ongoing within the lifesaving force. Sad huh...
So, I wanna promoted a use your own permanent tuberware for da-pow lunch! Firstly, you'll get to save 20cents on the plastic container and you can reuse it! Saving the world. If i could give the manangement some suggestions, I'll suggest that they use the funds they get for welfare and buy everyone lunch boxes for reusing. Really very significant. There's usually a big full trash bag of plastics in the pantry bin after lunch. Think of all the animals suffering for our irresponsible waste of plastics!!!

I'm one quarter way through my reports. Totally lost my mood to do report. I prefer to clear my report on the night itself, but these few days have been pretty bad ones. Lots of thoughts, lots of emotions, lots of stressors. Haiz, life is so difficult.
Today was a pretty nasty day, there were 2 ridiculous fluoro cases, there was like 30 mins of flouros just for 2 patients. My dose is so high for today. Ate my Vitamin C and drank a cup of green tea. Need the antioxidants to clear the peroxide. Good thing is that there was this damn ass medical student providing me with and extra 0.5mm Pb plus one human body's worth of radiation protection. But it was still freaking 90kV averaging 1.6mA, work that out man. sigh... Need more antioxidants.
Another interesting thing is my damned morning busrides. I boarded the 6.59am 145, i reached at 7.55am. If i take the 7.04 145, I'll reach NUH at 8.25am. If i take the 7.14 145, i'll reach at 8.40am. It's a bloody exponential relationship. WTF... How to estimate my time man, and reaching at 8.25am means i gotta run all the way into the department.
I'm like huh?

Weekend's been a blast! The good news came with the progress package being released early. Gave my mum some of the money, moved a bulk of the money to my non-spending accounts and yeah, bought my new pair of leather shoes at the 20% metro sale. My old pair was like 2 years ago, the heel cup is almost gone liao.
Then, there was Jessie's Bling-It-On that was totally blingey! So nice to see so much bling in a night. Jessie was shining like mad! Anyway, Happy Birthday! Although the day sort of started badly, things slowly smoothen out later.
Next, there was Xiuping's party. It was a steamboat at her place. Nice too. Food was good, helped with the preparation. There was a nice and cosy feel to the meal. So nice.
Then, today, I went for salsa class. It was a fun filled install of the lessons, basic SPINS! Wah! The dance is slowly taking shape man. Walked over to Yangtze Cinema to look at dirty old man going there to RA show, Damn funny situation when Pauline nearly screamed at the sight of a million dirty old man staring at her. Of course, she turned around a ran away. Jess, KEn and I headed over to town. Our Atas chick haven't tried Fried Mars Bars before, another instant fan!
