Yeah! It's a holiday tmr. But i'm not happy. MRS exam is on monday (Strawby: Yes the coming Monday). Today's been a pretty ok day. Didn't sleep well last nite, damn tired all day long. And my fingers shivering under the affects of caffiene overload. The quizes went well. While I was in the library studying for my quizes, I started reading some female magazines. They have the most interesting ways to cut down on carbs and losing weight. There's this one: "Eat with your non-master hand, you'll eat slower and slowly taste your food and feel satisfied (in terms of taste and flavour) and you need not over eat to gain such satisfaction."

And there's this other REALLY scarey article. People are usually confused about "portions" and "servings". A serving of a particular food is the amount of that particular food that can provide a standardized amount of nutrient, say carbohydrates. However, a portion is just the amount of food that's smacked in your face on the plate that it's served on. The article pointed out pasta. One typical portion (plate) of pasta at a restaurant is a freaking 4-8 SERVINGS. One serving of pasta is actually 1/2 a cup. Yeeeewwww.... Too think that an average person requires only 6-8 servings of carbohydrates (starchy food) a day.

That brings me to things like fried rice and noodles. I guess, people tend to over-eat foods like fried rice cos most people eat fried rice without other dishes. Result, you'll end up eating alot of rice to feel full, instead of half the rice with vegetables and other dishes, which is a typical chinese meal. Point i'm trying to get across is, instead of eating full portions of fried rice/noodles, we can eat white rice with dishes (esp vegetables). Vegetables and proteins can make a person feel full (at least not hungry) for much longer then rice, plus for veg it's carbohydrate (calorie) content is minimal.

Was looking at photos from last year, life was so happy then...
