I survived the NYP Boy's Brigade Primers Night Cycling Trip 2004. Haha, actually I wasn't expecting to die during the trip but yah, still it was painfully difficult to organise such an event. For those who don't know, I was the 2nd in charge of the organising committe of this event. There's also Zhixiong (1st IC), Huishan, Chong Quan, Kenneth, Gracina, Clara and of course Pam. Planning started way back and now that it's finally over, the satisfaction was overwhelming. I'm sure the rest of the committee feels the same way as I do.
The event started late, very late, cause by some administrative problems. But it all started off fine, the participants were nice and orderly and generally followed the instructions. We had two ambulances following us, thanks to St. John's Ambulance. Those ppl were amazing, they helped us block off traffic at hard to cross junctions. We travelled from ECP out of Fort road, then Mount Batten to Kallang, Victoria Street then Esplanade. Along the way we attracted lots and lots of attention. Duh... there were about 40 cyclists and 2 blinking ambulances. Well, from Esplanade we worked our way down Shenton Way to Harbour Front Centre andhad the first break there. It was really fun to stop to take photos, talk cock and among the committee memeber, we discussed the game plan.
Later we moved to Alexendra Road all the way down to River Valley road and off to supper at Kopitiam at Dhoby Ghaut. After that, it was all the way back to East Coast Park the final destination. It was truely amazing to see the glad faces of all 40 cyclist at the last stretch of the route. Thanks you all participants...
